Miguel Milà was born in Barcelona in 1931.

He started his professional career in 1950 when he joined the architecture studio of Federico Correa and Alfonso Milà. He then moved on to set up his own studio eight years later. His work has since then been the milestone of Catalan and Spanish design.

He was a professor at the schools Elisava and Eina in Barcelona during the 60s and 70s and has been a designer member of ADI FAD since 1960, an association he chaired in 1975. His rationalist education took him to search for the beauty of an object by simplifying its shape significantly and employing the least elements possible to achieve strict functionality.

Awards: Nacional de Diseño Industrial (1987); Creu de Sant Jordi de la Generalitat de Catalunya (1993); Delta de Oro (1961, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, 1975 y 1977); Delta de Oro especial (1986); Award for Good Industrial Design (1994) and Premio Compasso d’Oro Internacional (2008).
